Chartering

In simple terms, chartering is the hiring of a sea-going vessel to transport goods from point A to point B. Sometimes a company that has a fleet of its own will opt to charter a vessel – for example, if it has insufficient tonnage to execute a particular transport order. Our service We charter tonnage for routes not usually covered by liner-service companies, and also for items that would normally not be transported as containerized or conventional cargo on a liner vessel. Such items include:

  • Bulk cargoes (solid or liquid)
  • Industrial plant / heavy lifts
  • Full and part cargoes
  • arrangement of voyage and time charter contracts

In our chartering business we act as free and independent chartering brokers. That means we will either find a suitable vessel for cargoes given on hand to us, or we work in the competitive market, matching supply with demand (i.e. ships with cargoes). As an independent broker, we try to match the wishes and requirements of the shipper with those of the shipowner, and thus enable the two interested parties to enter into a contract.
